John Foxe – die Geschichte der Märtyrer, englischer Volltext

Ein historisches Buch, das Br. Branham erwähnt – es gehört selbst nicht zur Botschaft. „Foxe’s Book of Martyrs“ erzählt von den Christen, die um ihres Glaubens willen verfolgt und getötet wurden – von den Aposteln bis ins 19. Jahrhundert. Br. Branham nennt es mehrfach als Geschichtsquelle, die er selbst gelesen hat.

Hier steht der englische Volltext (Sammelausgabe in 23 Kapiteln). Er ist gemeinfrei, weil der Verfasser vor über 400 Jahren starb. Die Sprache ist die des 19. Jahrhunderts, die Schilderungen sind stellenweise grausam.

Deutsche Fassung: Eine deutsche Übersetzung erschien 1830 in Cincinnati (I. D. Rupp, „Geschichte der Märtyrer“). Eine frei lesbare digitale Fassung haben wir bisher nicht gefunden; eine neue deutsche Ausgabe ist uns nicht bekannt.
